| Required Reservation |

| These trains do not require a mandatory reservation, however, reservation is highly recommended since they operate on popular routes. For example: the ICE train in Germany. |

| Global Fare |
| |
| The cost of the ticket and reservation is included in the same fare. Trains that have global fares do not require the additional purchase of an open ticket, and thus, it is necessary to predetermine a specific travel date and time while purchasing the ticket. |

| A reservation guarantees a seat number in a specific train, on a certain date and time. |

Reservations are mandatory on high speed and scenic trains and all night trains and they are normally included in a Global Fare (ticket + reservation). |

Seat reservation is also compulsory on Scenic Trains in Switzerland, valid, with a Swiss Pass, a Swiss Saver Pass, a Swiss Youth Pass, a Swiss FlexiPass, a Swiss Saver FlexiPass or a point to ticket. |
